Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Name: The King and I (1999)

Role：Anna Leonowens & Mongkut

The Story:

This fictionalized story is based on the historical meeting between a schoolteacher (Anna Leonowens) from England and the king Mongkut of Siam. Anna is tasked at teaching the children at the palace, but the kings interventions challenge her methods of educating the 106 children of the palace. To make matters worse, the British receive a misinforming letter that the king’s ways are no civilized/are menacing Anna which prompts a threatening visit to investigate the goings on of the palace. Anna and the King must put their differences aside in order to protect the family and the kingdom at large. The story provides heartfelt take-aways such as working-together, friendship, bravery, and compromise.

*If you would like to know more, I would urge you to check out Richard Rich’s animated film The King and I (1999) which can be found on the streaming service Prime Video or on Plex (for free). However, there are many other filmic renditions of live action to check out, Rich’s is the one we will be basing our program upon.
